This mini-retreat is aimed to provide you with proven tools, gained by us through many years of teaching, so you can apply them with confidence in a safe way to any yoga style.

This course is not aimed solely at teachers, on the contrary, any practitioner will benefit from the knowledge gained as we will work with comparative and functional anatomy that you can apply to your own practice and/or, if you teach or intend to teach, when assisting/adjusting.

The program, starting early in the morning until late in the evening will include a daily ashtanga practice, meditation, practical anatomy classes and a zing of philosophy.

It will also include some methodology to work in a Mysore style class and give you principles of the counted method for you to explore and delve into it.

It will be a very demanding week, where you will be given a lot of information to be processed in the future.

Prerequisites: 1-year regular Ashtanga practice or 2-years regular practice of any other Yoga style. Before signing in we would like to have a short interview to know where you are and get to know you.

The course benefits from 40 CE credits from Yoga Alliance.

More about Santiago & Gabriele

Santiago Pinto started his daily Ashtanga practice in 2002 while living in Sweden. In October 2011, he moved to Barcelona where he founded Sarria Yoga Asana, an Ashtanga school where he’s been conducting the Mysore program. He earned a 200 hour Yoga degree with Brian Cooper in 2011 and a 200 hour RYT degree with John Scott in 2017. Since then, he’s been assisting John on several international workshops.

Santiago runs a yearly 200 hours Ashtanga teacher. Santiago is a Structural Integrator practitioner aka the Rolf’s method.

Gabriele Musetti was born in La Spezia, Italy. He has always been passionate about the art of body movement, physical culture and since 2013 he began his path of study and research in the field of motor activities. Graduated in Motor Sciences, he concluded the academic path with the thesis "Yoga of Functional Anatomy”.

Accommodation and Facilities

Our retreat centre is set in 2.5 acres of grounds in a valley filled with olive and almond groves.

Accommodation consists of six twin rooms  and one double room all with private ensuite bathroom. All rooms have been renovated to a high standard using locally sourced materials, to create a luxurious yet simple and understated feel. A large outdoor courtyard provides the main communal eating space, and several outdoor terraces offer a place to relax in the sun or the shade.

Situated at the heart of the complex, the swimming pool acts like a colourful meeting point – with the blue water combining with the green olive trees and the red soil.

Food plays a central role in both our yoga practice and life. We believe food should be varied, unprocessed and nourishing to promote energy and wellbeing. The food we serve is predominantly plant based with some vegetarian options.  All produce we source and grow at YogApulia is local, seasonal and organic wherever possible.

Refreshments are also available throughout the day and include tea, coffee, water & fruit.

The international airport at Brindisi is approximately 40 minutes drive away and Bari is further to the north approximately 55 minutes drive. Hiring a car in Puglia is relatively inexpensive and provides a great way to explore the surrounding countryside, local historical towns and beaches. Both Bari and Brindisi airports have a large selection of hire car companies including Avis and Hertz. It is recommended to book a car before your arrival. Alternatively, we can arrange a taxi to collect you on your arrival.
