Hatha Yoga, Ashtanga and Flow
with Rémy Mendelgwaig
22nd - 28th April 2023

About the Retreat
I invite you to join my yoga retreat in YogApulia in April 2023, the best time to enjoy this
beautiful land.
We will stay in a recently renovated yoga center, in the middle of the trulli. The place is quiet, withdrawn, in the Itria Valley. The ideal place to retreat from the demands of modern life and to practice yoga.
We will have the pleasure of benefiting from the culinary talents of two chefs who prepare vegetarian meals for us with local and organic ingredients.
The day will start with a good yoga practice, followed by a hearty brunch, then a nature hike
or a visit to a picturesque village. Perhaps we will prefer to rest on one of the beautiful beaches.
The afternoon and evening program will be flexible and varied, with some possibilities of workshops.
Yoga classes are suitable for all levels, also for beginners. We will have the chance to practice in a recently renovated Yoga Shala, all in wood, imbued with calm.
The program is flexible and everyone can choose the activities that suit them every day. It is also possible to settle for just one yoga session a day in the morning, and to rest in the open- air swimming pool after the morning session.
"The courses will be mainly in French."

More about Remy
From the thirty years during which he taught, with great happiness, physics and philosophy to students preparing for the baccalaureate and higher education, Rémy will draw great sensitivity to questions about himself and his relationship to the world. In 2010, a serious personal crisis affected him body and soul and pushed him towards another path: to come back to himself and recharge, to regain the confidence and energy necessary to heal and change. Rémy discovers yoga. The beneficial effect on his physical and mental state is immediate. His life is transformed. He follows yoga teacher training in Austria and Israel according to the Sivananda tradition. Feeling the need to follow in the footsteps of the great yogis, he went to India, to the sources of the Ganges. He participates in retreats and follows an advanced training of "Master of Yoga". On his return in 2012, animated by a deep desire to share this extraordinary instrument of well-being that is Yoga, Rémy began to teach it around him. The more he teaches, the more the therapeutic effects of the practice on his students appear to him. He then decided to invest in the path of yoga as therapy. In 2016, he trained as a “Yoga therapist for heart disease and cancer”, according to a method widely applied in the United States. Nischala Joy Devi's teaching makes him understand that yoga can help even in the most extreme cases of chronic illnesses. It was in the mountains of Galilee that Rémy discovered the relaxing and therapeutic power of Tibetan ‘singing’ bowls. He also initiates himself to the ancient tantric way of Yoga Nidra, the 'awake sleep' of the yogi, and happily combines these two methods for the well-being of his students.
In June 2022 Rémy finalized a 5-year training as an Ashtanga teacher which he followed under the direction of Jean-Claude Garnier in Brussels. Jean-Claude Garnier is a disciple of Sri Pattabhi Jois, the Indian master who developed Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga.
All these paths of yoga will be integrated into the practice of the retreat.
Accommodation and Facilities
Our retreat centre is set in 2.5 acres of grounds in a valley filled with olive and almond groves.
Accommodation consists of six twin rooms and one double room all with private ensuite bathroom. All rooms have been renovated to a high standard using locally sourced materials, to create a luxurious yet simple and understated feel. A large outdoor courtyard provides the main communal eating space, and several outdoor terraces offer a place to relax in the sun or the shade.
Situated at the heart of the complex, the swimming pool acts like a colourful meeting point – with the blue water combining with the green olive trees and the red soil.
Food plays a central role in both our yoga practice and life. We believe food should be varied, unprocessed and nourishing to promote energy and wellbeing. The food we serve is predominantly plant based with some vegetarian options. All produce we source and grow at YogApulia is local, seasonal and organic wherever possible.
Refreshments are also available throughout the day and include tea, coffee, water & fruit.
The international airport at Brindisi is approximately 40 minutes drive away and Bari is further to the north approximately 55 minutes drive. Hiring a car in Puglia is relatively inexpensive and provides a great way to explore the surrounding countryside, local historical towns and beaches. Both Bari and Brindisi airports have a large selection of hire car companies including Avis and Hertz. It is recommended to book a car before your arrival. Alternatively, we can arrange a taxi to collect you on your arrival.
