About the Retreat

Six day Ashtanga Yoga Retreat with tailored bodywork, yoga workshops, Gong and sound baths and guided meditation.

We consider the practice of yoga to be a healing modality that has the potential to bring freedom to your mind and body. However we have witnessed many yoga students struggling to find that very freedom, attempting to push and impose the postures on their body in ways that are less than optimal. 

Meeting Yoga in this way gets us no closer to personal freedom, often achieving the opposite. It can lead to us giving up this wonderful practice as we struggle with the pain and injury that can result from this approach.

We passionately believe in the healing power of Yoga, and that it can be practiced for the rest of your life when approached with intelligence and understanding.

 

In this retreat we hope to share information that will help you find freedom, space,  lightness in your yoga practice, thereby setting you on the path to effort-less practice . We will work with you in Asana Practice, workshops and through targeted bodywork sessions with Annabelle to unravel tensions, identify problem areas and give you valuable information to work with in your practice during and after the retreat.

 

We will

  •  Identify problematic movement, breath and structural patterns in your practice and work with you to identify solutions or approaches to address these

  • Use massage and bodywork to work on specific soft tissue restrictions in areas that may impede your current practice

  • Provide you with an individualised set of tools and techniques for you to use and explore in your practice beyond the retreat

  • *Additional 30 minute treatments can be booked at a cost of £35

More about Andy

Andy has been teaching Ashtanga Yoga for over 15 years. He is a 3rd Series practitioner and has the experience and knowledge to teach primary, 2nd and 3rd Series asana practice in the Ashtanga method. He has been practicing and studying Yoga for over 25 years, in particular with John and Lucy Scott. 

 

As a Yoga teacher, a practicing Life Coach and an experienced Yoga practitioner in his 50s, Andy understands and respects the needs of the individual student, placing their needs at the heart of his teaching. He brings an intelligent, supportive, collaborative and non-dogmatic approach to teaching Ashtanga Yoga.

 

Andy is passionate about teaching Ashtanga and he draws upon his experience both as a teacher and coach to provide a supportive, nurturing and inspiring space in which he can facilitate the personal growth of his students through their practice

More about Annabelle

 Annabelle specialises in a remedial approach to massage, emphasising her work on alleviating acute and chronic pain. She has extensive experience in treating:

 

  • Shoulder girdle pain and dysfunction

  • Hip and Pelvic pain and dysfunction

  • Back and neck pain

  • Repetitive strain injuries

  • Scar tissue

  • Sporting injuries

 

Annabelle combines a range of techniques depending on each person's needs and requirements, including but not limited to: Myofascial Release, Trigger Point Therapy, Deep Tissue massage.

 

Annabelle has been practicing and teaching Yoga for 15 years, and has been a full-time body therapist since 2010. She is currently studying classical Chinese acupuncture.

Accommodation and Facilities

Our retreat centre is set in 2.5 acres of grounds in a valley filled with olive and almond groves.  

 

Accommodation consists of seven twin bedrooms all with private ensuite.  We have renovated all rooms to a high standard using locally sourced materials, and are aiming to create a luxurious yet simple and understated feel. A large outdoor courtyard provides the main communal eating space, and several outdoor terraces offer a place to relax in the sun or the shade.

 

Situated at the heart of the complex, the swimming pool acts like a colourful meeting point – with the blue water combining with the green olive trees and the red soil.

The international airport at Brindisi is approximately 40 minutes drive away and Bari is further to the north approximately 55 minutes drive. Hiring a car in Puglia is relatively inexpensive and provides a great way to explore the surrounding countryside, local historical towns and beaches. Both Bari and Brindisi airports have a large selection of hire car companies including Avis and Hertz. It is recommended to book a car before your arrival.
